Eligibility

All current Kalamazoo Valley students, faculty and staff are eligible to borrow library material. Students are current during active registered course dates only.

Overdue Fines

The Kalamazoo Valley Libraries do not charge overdue fines. However, replacement fees and account holds are assessed for lost or damaged material. 

 

Lost and Damaged Material

Items that are not returned on time are assumed lost. A replacement fee is assessed as well as an account hold on grades and transcripts. Lost fees and account holds are waived upon return of material.

The library may charge a replacement fee for material that is damaged beyond repair. 

 

Returns

To avoid account holds and replacement fees, materials should always be returned on or before the due date. Items may be returned to any of the following locations. Please note that all 3 hour loans should be returned directly to service desk staff only.

  • any library service desk staff
  • TTC book drop at the circulation desk
  • TTC book drop outside of upper level
  • TTC book drop outside of lower level
  • TTC book drop outside of the tower entrance (accessible 24/7)
  • ACC book drop at the circulation desk
  • ACC book drop outside the library

Access your ValleyCat Library Account Online

ValleyCat Login

  • Log in to view checkouts, due dates and fees.
  • Create holds for convenient pick up at your preferred library branch.
  • Create and save reading lists for assignments or topic exploration.

Account Set Up

Watch a Video Tutorial or follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the my library account sign in screen.
  2. Enter your Valley ID number.
  3. Follow the set/reset password link on the sign in screen.
  4. Check your KVCC email and follow the prompts to set up your password.
  5. Return to the sign in screen  to access your account.

Place a Hold

Users can place holds on available items for convenient pick up at their preferred branch. Users can also place holds on items that are currently checked out to; the item will be recalled from the current user and you will be notified when it is available.

Place a Hold Step by Step

  1. Click the “Place Hold” button in the “Check Availability” section of the item record.
  2. The catalog will prompt you to sign in to place the hold.
  3. Choose your preferred pick up location.

You will receive email confirmation when your hold has been placed and another email when it is ready to be picked up. If the item is currently on loan it may take up to 5 weeks for the hold to be fulfilled.


View Loans and Due Dates
  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Select "checkouts" from the pull down menu on the top right.

Create and Share Reading Lists

Create and share reading lists for research projects or personal interest.

  1. Sign in.
  2. Select the star icon to save items to a temporary list.
  3. You will see the "saved items" total increase as you add items.
  4. Click on "saved items."
  5. Create and name your list.
  6. Access and share your lists from the main account menu.
