NURS 100 Intro to Nursing Practice
4-4-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 4 The content of this course introduces the nursing student to the conceptual framework of the nursing program. The major nursing values and integrating concepts will be introduced. Learning activities will support the application of those concepts to the roles of the nurse as provider of care, manager of care, and member within the discipline of nursing. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of BIO 210 and admission to the nursing program are REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 102, NURS 104, and NURS 105.

NURS 102 Intro Clinical Nursing Practic
4-0-12 (6 Standard Lab/6 Clinical) Contact Hours: 12 This course is designed to assist the beginning nursing student to develop those skills necessary to meet basic client needs for safety, elimination, nutrition, mobility, and hygiene. The content includes basic medication administration, principles of medical and surgical asepsis, and adult client nursing assessment skills. The course will also provide the vehicle for the application of the roles associated with provider and manager of care in an extended care facility and to introduce the nursing student to other members of the discipline of nursing. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of BIO 210 and admission to the nursing program are REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 100, NURS 104, and NURS 105.

NURS 104 Intro to Psychosocial Nursing
1-1-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 1 This is an introductory theory course that focuses on essential concepts of psychosocial nursing. The content includes concepts relevant to nursing care of geriatric and mental health clients in a variety of settings. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of BIO 210 and admission to the nursing program are REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 100, NURS 102, and NURS 105.

NURS 105 Nursing Pharmacology I
1-1-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 1 This course focuses on the application of the nursing process to pharmacology including the principles of pharmacology and drug classifications that are commonly part of medical regimens. Students need prerequisite skills to perform mathematical calculations commonly encountered in drug therapy. The purpose of this course is to prepare the student or practitioner to apply the nursing process during drug administration. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of BIO 210 and admission to the nursing program are REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 100, NURS 102, and NURS 104.

NURS 165 Adult Nursing I
4-4-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 4 This course is a theoretical course with content focusing on common healthcare needs requiring nursing care. The course is organized into selected alterations in human function that respond to common nursing interventions and medical regimens. Included is content related to managing individual and group client assignments with a defined plan of care. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 100, NURS 102, NURS 104, and NURS 105 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 236 and NURS 237.

NURS 166 Applied Adult Nursing
4-0-12 (4 Standard Lab/8 Clinical) Contact Hours: 12 This course is designed to assist the nursing student to develop skills necessary to meet the client's needs. The skills introduced in this course will expand upon the nursing student's previous knowledge of surgical asepsis and the application of the nursing process. The content includes parenteral medication administration, principles of medical and surgical asepsis, and adult client nursing assessment skills. The course will also prepare the nursing student to function in the roles of provider and manager of care and introduce the nursing student to other members of the discipline of nursing. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 100, NURS 102, NURS 104, and NURS 105 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 236 and NURS 237.

NURS 167 Nursing Pharmacology II
2-2-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 2 The purpose of this course is to prepare the student or practitioner to apply the nursing process during drug administration. Emphasis is placed on the nursing process correlating patterns of knowing and pharmacological principles using critical thinking with medical regimens. This course familiarizes the student with pharmacological classes of drugs and complimentary alternative medicine principles with the promotion of health. Students need prerequisite skills to perform mathematical calculations commonly encountered in drug therapy. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 100, NURS 102, NURS 104, and NURS 105 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 236 and NURS 237.

NURS 190 Transition Seminar
1-0-0 (Self-Paced) Contact Hours: 1 This course is designed for nursing students entering Level II of the associate degree program who are LPN's. The course is intended to assist the student with articulation into level II through the review of selected skills and concepts presented in level I. PREREQUISITE: Admission to level II of the nursing program is REQUIRED.

NURS 222 Obstetrical Nursing
2-2-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 2 This is a theory course that focuses on essential concepts of women's health and obstetrical nursing. The content includes concepts relevant to nursing care of clients/families in a variety of settings. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, NURS 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247.

NURS 224 Integrated Obstetrical Nursing
1.5-0-4.5 (1.25 Standard Lab/3.25 Clinical) Contact Hours: 4.5 This is a course that will utilize both the nursing lab and clinical sites allowing the students to care for childbearing clients/families. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 222, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247.

NURS 236 Pediatric Nursing
2-2-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 2 This is a course with content that focuses on health issues as they relate to the care of the pediatric client, family, and the practice of nursing. The content includes concepts regarding nutrition, growth and development, culture, spirituality, and alterations of health. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, NURS 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247.

NURS 237 Integrated Pediatric Nursing
1.5-0-4.5 (1.25 Standard Lab/3.25 Clinical) Contact Hours: 4.5 The course is designed to assist nursing students to develop those skills necessary to meet the basic and complex needs for a pediatric client. The content includes physical assessment, advanced medication administration, and IV therapy. This course will also provide the vehicle for the application of the roles associated with provider and manager of care in an acute care facility and permit nursing students an opportunity to function as a member within the discipline of nursing. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, NURS 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 245, and NURS 247.

NURS 245 Adult Nursing II
3-3-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 3 This course is a theoretical course with content focusing on clients with increasingly more complex healthcare needs. The course is organized into selected alterations in human functions that may require complex nursing interventions and medical regimens. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, NURS 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, and NURS 247.

NURS 247 Integrated Adult Nursing
2-0-6 (1.25 Standard Lab/4.75 Clinical) Contact Hours: 6 This is a combined lab and clinical course that has content related to safely administering skills requiring advanced application of surgical asepsis and skills required for the effective management of progressively complex client assignments. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 165, NURS 166, and NURS 167 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, and NURS 245.

NURS 248 Adult Nursing III
3-3-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 3 This is a theory course with content focusing on clients with increasingly more complex healthcare needs. This course is organized in the same manner as NURS 245 with additional selected alterations in human function that may require higher level nursing and interprofessional interventions including medical regimens. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 249, NURS 252, NURS 253, NURS 270, and NURS 271.

NURS 249 Management of Adult Nursing
2-0-6 (Clinical) Contact Hours: 6 This is a course that continues to allow the student to function in the roles of provider and manager of care for clients with complex healthcare needs in a dynamic healthcare environment. Socialization into the dynamic healthcare setting will continue in this course. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 248, NURS 252, NURS 253, NURS 270, and NURS 271.

NURS 252 Psychosocial Nursing II
2-2-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 2 This is a theory course with content that focuses on complex mental health issues related to the care of families and individuals and the practice of nursing. The content includes concepts relevant to mental health nursing and the management of the client and family in a variety of settings. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 248, NURS 249, NURS 253, NURS 270, and NURS 271.

NURS 253 Integrated Psychosocial Nurse
1.5-0-4.5 (Clinical) Contact Hours: 4.5 This is a course designed to provide clinical experience in a variety of mental healthcare settings allowing the nursing student to function in the roles as provider of care, manager of care, and as a member of the discipline of nursing for clients/families with complex mental health issues. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 248, NURS 249, NURS 252, NURS 270, and NURS 271.

NURS 270 Clinical Decision Making
2-2-0 (Lecture/Discussion) Contact Hours: 2 This theory course will focus on management of client care. An integral part of the registered nurse's role while managing care of the client is to identify and solve problems through utilization of appropriate resources and the direction of other healthcare workers toward goals. Caring, ethics, excellence, holism, integrity, person-centered care, and diversity are essential topics covered in the course. Knowledge of legal and professional standards is also essential for nursing to remain a viable profession. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 248, NURS 249, NURS 252, NURS 253, and NURS 271.

NURS 271 Mgmt of Clinical Decisions
1-0-3 (Clinical) Contact Hours: 3 This is a clinical course that will utilize both simulation within the nursing lab and clinical sites designed to provide a setting that allows the nursing student to make the most appropriate clinical decisions based on management principles. The course is designed to emphasize the skills necessary for clinical decision making utilizing the essential health concepts of caring, ethics, excellence, holism, integrity, person-centered care, and diversity. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of NURS 222, NURS 224, NURS 236, NURS 237, NURS 245, and NURS 247 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: NURS 248, NURS 249, NURS 252, NURS 253, and NURS 270.
